More Flexible and Progressive Financing Through the Collaboration Between PKMM and Planworth

KUANTAN: The Malaysian Malay Contractors Association (PKMM) has urged all its members and Malay contractors from Grade G1 to G7 nationwide to join the MyDigital Contractor (MDK) programme implemented by the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB).
PKMM Vice President, Abd. Gapar Lambak, said that digitalisation has now become a key necessity for G1 to G7 contractors in strengthening the nation’s construction sector in line with the digital transformation outlined by the government.
He, who is also the Chairman of PKMM Pahang, said the programme is not merely a digital platform but an important mechanism that enables contractors to showcase their company profiles professionally, access the e-Tender system, and comply with e-Invoicing requirements set by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN).
“Digitalisation is no longer an option, but a necessity. For that reason, we have collaborated with CIDB’s subsidiary, CIDB E-Construct Services Sdn Bhd, to introduce and promote the MDK programme.
“We urge contractors, especially PKMM members, to register immediately for this programme. So far, we (PKMM) have received more than 300 applications. Through this programme, we will apply for a digitalisation grant to cover the programme cost, which will be free for three years for successful applicants,” he said in his speech at the 41st PKMM Pahang State Annual General Meeting Dinner held at Hotel Grand Darul Makmur here.
Meanwhile, Abd. Gapar said local contractors now have more options in accessing more flexible and sustainable financing through PKMM’s collaboration with Planworth Global Factoring Sdn Bhd (Planworth).
He said through this collaboration, more than 60,000 PKMM members have the opportunity to gain access to financial facilities that are easier and faster compared to conventional bank loans.
“The challenge of obtaining financing from conventional financial institutions is increasingly apparent, especially for small and medium contractors.
“Banks today are more cautious in approving loans because they manage public funds. With the Planworth financing platform, the application process is simpler and faster, with approvals taking only one week compared to three months through banks.
“We also encourage contractors to consider this programme and take advantage of this opportunity as an alternative financing option. We want to ensure that financial issues no longer become the main obstacle in implementing construction projects,” he said.
He expressed confidence that this collaboration will have a positive impact on the local construction industry, particularly in enhancing the competitiveness of Malay contractors and ensuring business sustainability in facing current economic challenges.
